    Volunteer with Urban Art Retreat!

    We sure can use help with gardening tasks once spring is here! If you would like to help, send an email with the dates and times you are most available to help in the URBAN ART gardens! sophiebella@sbcglobal.net        No experience necessary!
    At the Urban Art Retreat we are committed to bringing the best programs and opportunities to those we serve. Like all non profits we need the help of volunteers in order to run these programs. We ask that you devote just a little of your time and effort so that together we may continue to provide a place for artists and the community to join forces. If you are truly interested in volunteering with us please take a look at some of the opportunities listed below. We welcome people with all sorts of skills so if you do not find anything that interest you let us know.

    URBAN ART RETREAT is a non profit organization offering unique, interesting, supportive, and encouraging classes, workshops, and other opportunities. Our mission statement is about inclusivity, tolerance of differences, bringing people who are different from each other together, and non violent space for survivors of trauma and everyone can feel safe to attend activities and express oneself through talk and art.

    On Site Artist-In-Residence
    Diverse Opportunities for artists to offer programming at URBAN ART RETREAT in the N. Lawndale neighborhood. This unique volunteer opportunity offering leadership, encouragement, & support to those seeking to learn and practice art skills, is offered in the URBAN ART RETREAT art studio at 1957 S. Spaulding Ave. (corner of 21st)
    To apply to become an URBAN ART RETREAT (UAR) Artist In Residence
    * Submit a resume and a letter of introduction telling why you are interested in being an artist in residence at UAR, what your goals are, and what you have to offer UAR participants. Make sure to include all your contact info.
    * Then submit a class series description with day of week (1st, 2nd, 3rd choice), class time, how many weeks taught in a row, what plans you have for the series to be ongoing or repeating, what the teaching objectives are, what age you are trying to reach for students.
    To follow up on your application-
    *continue to email your questions and comments and questions. Be prepared to begin your teaching residence and to recruit students via door to door surveys in the neighborhood and by listing your class series on Craigslist, Idealist, Volunteermatch, and more.
