Slaves In A Dark Place EVENT! May 8.

May 8, 2010 there will be a fundraiser for URBAN ART RETREAT. It will take place at Bolat’s African Cuisine Restaurant on N. Clark Street in Chicago. The nearest cross street is Roscoe. From 8-11 p.m. there will be a wonderful event to raise money for a great non profit organization that serves the African American population in the N. Lawndale neighborhood. Nijiela is organizing the event. Large paintings by James V. Allen called “Slaves in a Dark Place” will be at the center of the evening. One large painting will be auctioned off and others will be for sale. There will be a small art objects for sale table staffed by Cassandra. In addition, a fashion show of works by local designers will take place to entertain us all. Tickets are $25.00 at the door. This includes fresh cold water and hor’doevrs. Bar drinks are extra. Try something new and have a great time supporting local artists and doing something good for a special arts organization that makes sure black artists have a place to show their art! The public is welcome to attend!
